Back on Manabu, I wish Ohno would guest on this segment, he'd be very thrilled and awake. It's not equal to the deep ocean fishing but still, it's fishing XD. The whole segment is really pure entertainment.
Even the background is fishes!
Today's guest is Daigo & Degawa! And we have our (mine, to be exact) fave!
Question to daigo: Which fish do you like?
Daigo: AJ
AJ stands for Aji (carp)... LOL
I like Daigo when he's doing this gag. His face is looking at you with straight expression.
They start the competition straight away that even Sawabe is surprised.
The rule in short is they have to catch as many fish as they can in 1 hour (probably this is the shortest location shooting they have in Manabu history so far LOL). No repeats on the fish that you caught. The winning team gets to eat ALL fishes caught (including the losers' loot). And off course, the loser team eats NOTHING. So it's really ALL or NOTHING.
6 baits are provided. Clockwise: Aoisome, Okiami (krill), Saba (mackarel), Ika (squid), Karasugai (mussels), Asari (clam). I cannot find Aoisome on google translate and my dictionary... so I give up.
So first trial, Aiba-chan chose ika as his bait. Ika will get you Madai, saba, etc.
And true enough, he got Madai in such a short time.
That's a good start!
Information on Madai: Best between Autumn to Spring. Price at 2000 to 3000 Yen. I skip the location part.
I like how the staff put the emotion or eye pointing on the fish LOL
Daigo also got a Madai afterwards...
So we have a fierce competition here, ha!
Sawabe got Madai and it didn't count. Degawa teased him because of that...
Madai eats everything basically so it's easy to get Madai.
Degawa then got Akahata!
Also best from Autumn to Winter and priced at 1000 to 3000 yen.
Recommended cooking method is to butter saute it. OMG it looks so good!

Daigo is aiming for Iseebi (lobster) with okiami as bait...
And he failed after very close of getting it. And the staff use the JIN drama OST as the BGM. LOL.
But he finally get the lobster on 2nd try. And wehave FISSHU!

20 minutes more and their baits are completely ignored by the fishes haha...
There's this 1 fish that so difficult to fish and just keep on eating the baits.
It's difficult to fish it because its mouth is so small. It's called Kawahagi.
Aiba-chan and Sawabe tried so many times and even Degawa tried it also... and FAIL...
Sawabe managed to get it! and his face is just ... LOL!!!
Happiness!!! Kawahagi available in Autumn only and it's priced at 1000 to 2000 yen.
It makes a beautiful sashimi... OMG...

First, filleting! Aiba-chan did the fillet beautifully, that I cannot even do LOL
After filleting and cutting, he torched the fish...

And I wish they didn't put the fish head....

And Aiba-chan with sheepish laugh said that it's a fail use of Arashi and LOL...
